

Crashes may only occur when SEP add-in is enabled because this is when the related Microsoft API calls are being made. All other Office Programs work properly except this one. Symantec is aware of similar crashes occurring in newer versions of Outlook and have been advising customers to consult with Microsoft technical support in these instances. Here is how to do it in Outlook 2019 (including Outlook for Microsoft 365), 2016, 2013, 2010, and 2007. Apart from the default font for messages, calendar, etc., you can change the background color. If you are experiencing the crash in Outlook, it is thus recommended that you download and install the appropriate KB for your version of Outlook, then verify no further crashing behavior is experienced. Outlook 2016 stuck on processing is a common problem with Outlook 2016 and with Windows 10. Installing the applicable KB for your version of Outlook has been found to resolve the crashing behavior when the SEP Outlook add-in is installed. Restarting outlook normally after the command also works. Also starting Outlook with command 'Outlook /nopreview' allows outlook to start, activating the preview again under view, works fine after that as well. Starting outlook in safe mode and then normally allows outlook to start again. Microsoft has released KB4011570 for Outlook 2016 and KB4011282 for Outlook 2013, both of which address crashing behavior. We are receiving multiple reports of users working with Outlook 2016 that the screen stays stuck on 'processing' or 'starting'.
